The dark side of leadership

Warwick Business School has been talking to our Forum about 'the dark side of leadership'.

Associate Professor in Behavioural Science, Dawn Eubanks, says our experiences of leadership are shaped from childhood and everyone knows the types of leaders they feel comfortable being around.

However, she has been carrying out some exciting research that has been identifying particular facial features that contribute to different leadership looks.

Dawn gave paper cut-outs of faces to her research subjects to study and found that those taking part could identify how dominant or competent these leaders were.

In another research project she studied world leaders' biographies to draw out characteristics of those who were violent. Additionally and importantly she looked at the environmental factors such as corruption and instability that would lead to a violent leader emerging in the future.

Watch our interview with Dawn to find out more about this fascinating area of research.
